Asian teams in the World Cup Very Much Alive and Kicking...
The contagious World Cup Fever will soon prevail again this June as billions of people from all four corners of the world are expected to be helpless about it and who cares, most them are dying to get infected anyways.
At long lasts the much awaited and much sought after 2010 Soccer World Cup will literally kick off this June 11, 2010 in Johannesburg, South Africa and 32 top notch nations that endured grueling qualifying rounds will slug it out for the right to claim the most coveted and much elusive title and the chance to keep the Jules Rimet Trophy for a year.
Teams that won in the tournament here before like Italy, France, Brazil, Uruguay, England, Germany, and Argentina are present and they are cinched to give other teams a tough time.
Other powerhouse and high ranked teams that are set to see action are Netherlands, Spain, United States and Portugal.
Darkhorse teams from Africa led by host South Africa are also aching to make their presence felt in the event.
Other teams from the South and North America, Oceania, and Europe are also entered in the tournament.

South Korea National Soccer Team
The Asian teams will be bannered by the three countries in the Far Eastern region of the continent, which are North Korea, Japan and South Korea. These three nations are not yet powerhouse in the sports but they are expected to mix it up and wield the upset axe over their talented and favored opponents.
The South Korean team is expected to spearhead the Asian juggernaut in the Cup. Using their sheer speed and cohesive teamwork they are expected to give their opponents a run for their money. The South Korean vaunted reputation as a dangerous run and gun team was at its finest as they wound up fourth in the 2002 edition of the Cup, which is a record among Asian countries and wound up 17th in the 2006 edition of the Cup. Counting their forthcoming stint in Johannesburg the South Korean team will be appearing for the eighth time, which is the most for any Asian countries. The South Korean team is in Group B alongside one of the favorite and two-time winner Argentina, Nigeria and Greece.

Japan National Soccer Team
Another team that is cinched to give teams some problems in the tournament is Japan. The Japanese team will appear for the fourth time in the World Cup.
The team finished a decent ninth place in 2002. The Japanese team is in the dangerous Group E together with the Netherlands, Denmark and Cameroon. Team Japan is expected to have its hands full against their opponents.
Japan and Korea are the co-hosts of the 2002 edition of the Cup and both countries eked out their best performance in the tournament that year.
- Meet The Equally Tough Philippine Azkals
The Philippine national football team which is considered a minnow in the international competitions finally broke the juggernaut. The Philippine Footballers which is also known as the Azkals (derived from the...

North Korea National Soccer Team
And last but definitely not the least is the North Korea national soccer team, which is one of the most interesting team in the tournament since it is a communist country and at the same time will appear only in the tournament for the second time. They are bunched in a tough Group G with the versatile and five-time winner Brazil, Portugal and Côte d'Ivoire. The North Korean first did a milestone as it becomes the very first team from the continent that made it through the quarterfinals in 1966 and one of their sweetest victory that year was 1-0 upset win over Italy.
The Asian teams are clearly not the favorites in the tournament as they are expected to have their hands full against their tough opponents in the Cup. But still they are capable of pulling the rug from under their foes to extract hard-earned wins and draws, they did it before and now history will be in the offing to witness how well they will perform in Johannesburg.

Australia was left out of this, although they are not geographically or politically Asian. Anyway, Japan and South Korea acquitted themselves well. They both reached the second round, but bowed out to South American opposition.
It was great to read a report on different countries soccer teams. We only seem to concentrate on the most talked about countries eg. Brazil, England, France. I love writting articles on sport and found yours very interesting
Asian football is full of intelligent players and I think they will go further than the African teams. Is it true though that the supporters of the North Korean team were actually Chinese actors? This is a story I heard on the news.
Argentina already beat south korean 4-1 , and I am kind disappointing with their performance, too much basic mistake, maybe south korean nervous, if they meet the BIG teams anyway if you want to know the next champions fifa world cup 2010 please come and visit at
South Korea looked great in their first round victory over Greece. Haven't seen North Korea play yet.
Nice to see someone giving South Korea its credit that they do deserve...not sure how North Korea managed to qualify (it keeps me up at night). Great article
Thank you for a wonderful read. Yes, certainly the World Cup fewer has started and I wish you team all the success.
