The rest like are aggressive in certain areas of our lives. It's all about balance I guess. Too much of something isn't good, right?
Well, people always have something to say, whether it's good or bad, logical or illogical. A person's view of the world is influenced by different factors, mostly personal experiences. This a MUST read to anyone contemplating marrying a Filipina.
For example, most western foreigners don't realize when marrying a Filipina is that HER family comes first and he is expected to support HER family through regular monthly remittances. Also her family will consider him to be the "Bank of America" with unlimited funds and make all kinds of funding requests. Before you know it he will have bought her parents a house, financed her siblings education, bankrolled her relatives' gambling habits, funded their business schemes, etc.
While the Filipinos are fun-loving, warm and hospitable, they are also mercenary and opportunists, especially where money is concerned.

Hi everyone. I am American and i am married to a filipina who is just 24 years old right now. I am 44 and I can say that i am a well to do american because i am an accountant. My wife is not just beautiful, loving , caring and patient, understanding but also a PROFESSIONAL LIBRARIAN in the philippines. I'be to 17 years of marriage to american woman in the U.S but i have never ever felt to my ex wife what my filipina wife what i felt right now. I felt extatic because of her and we truly love each other despite of our age gap.

If you look online , u havea 50-50 chance, If u go there and not just for sex ! then u will find a trustworthy woman , esp if you find a local or farm girl! Helo Everyone/ I am certainly no expert or pretend to be when it comes to Filipina women. I have lived on and off in the Philippines since 1979 and on 11 different islands and this is just my experience when it comes to relationships and marriages with them. First of all let me say yes, I am married to a wonderful lady but it took me a while to find her. Most of the foreigners who seek Filipinas to marry go through the internet and or travel to the Philippines and stay in only a few places never traveling outside a select few cities. Even the majority of the embassy staff of the U.S. have never traveled around the Philippines except to the popular beach resorts and a few of the larger cities.
To begin with: The vast majority of the foreigners are much older than the Filipinas. They plan of bringing them back to their countries and believe they will fit in easily because they speak English. These Filipinas are separated from their families, friends, foods, culture, and way of life. Filipinas are very adaptable but it is still very difficult. Many Filipinas will meet younger and more attractive men who they become romantically involved and will leave their husbands once they have their Green Card. It appears that the more successful marriages are with older ladies in their 30s since it is harder for them to find a mate in the Philipines but there again not always the case. Think about this: why would a smoking hot 21 year-old lady end up with a 50+ man of average looks and background. This is a sad fact for many. According to the U.S. Embasssy from 2006 stats: 73% of all marriages end in separation once they have obtained their Green Cards. The best advice that I can give is to spend some time traveling around the Philippines (at least 1 month) and going off the beaten track. You will see some really cool things as long as you are some what adventureous. I've had more foreigners tell me that they feel they are in danger if they go to some of these islands. I tell them as long as they use some common sense and stay away from the Jolo Islands and parts of South Cotabato in Mindanao that they will be fine. Bad things can happen to anyone any where.
I could go on with stories about guys over the years who I have met here in the Philippines who got taken for homes, money, cars, and self-esteem but I won't go into it as you will have to learn for yourself. Finally, like in any other culture you have to date the lady you are interested in for a while, meet her family and spend time with them. Don't be afraid to try new things. The families can be some what demanding both financially and emotionally. Trust must be earned. Always respect your lady even if you don't always agree with her. I have had mostly good relationships but there are a few that come to mind that I'd rather forget. I just chalk it up to experience. Best of luck to anyone considering marrying a Filipina. Be patient and don't be afraid to ask questions.

I went to another state about a year ago after finding a filipina lady on a paid website,I,m in my 50,sand she is in her late 30,s she was here on a work visa and had been here for 4 yrs after meeting her we got married and she came a couple weeks later I helped in getting her green card after this she wanted to go back to the philippines to see her 10 yr old son,I told her to go back to where she lived here in the USA for a week and while there she broke communcations by not responding to my phone calls and then one day she shut off her cell phone for about 12 hours,So I started looking thru her draws here at my home and found a book with names of americans and e-mail address,s and telephone numbers the first number I called was a man who happen to be american he said he had met with her and spent the day and they slept together he said he had dated her for about a year and she told him she had gotten married and then divorced after getting her green card.I called her in the philippines and she admitted to this she was to be gone for 2 months but after me finding this out she asked me to reroute her flight back to the US and came back here the question I have is this is this I am a 100 percent service connected Veteran where she can go to collage and get paid to do so do you think she is using me to finish school and disappear after getting her degree setting me up for more heart ache?
LOL!! I am emmersed in the Filipino community in the US. Having a Filipino wife myself, and seeing what other American men are dealing with, you are describing a life and type of human(the filipina) that I have never been exposed to. Good luck to you if this is actually your life, but I do not know of another guy marrried to a filipina who is not in constant misery.

And I know that you mean well but it seems to me that what you're trying to say is the reason why pinays make the best wives because it's okay for us to stay at home and attend to our husbands every care and whim.
I find it upsetting that pinays agree to your article because we have to force ourselves to fit into these stereotypical gender roles for us to be attractive. And we are forced to remain backward in our ways instead of advancing and improving ourselves towards the future.

I've been living in the Philippines for a while now and I've been able to chat with fellow Americans and other foreigners who are married here. Most of what you said holds true but another thing I don't think you mentioned is their attractive "exotic" look. They seem to have fallen for that.

Kenny G asked a good question: are you promoting Philippine women as perfect wives for prospective husbands? Your style of writing makes you sound like a sleazy salesman (hehehe) if not something worse. It is this kind of thinking that makes life even harder for women in the Philippines who must deal with terrible poverty, not to mention the recent natural disasters. Who will write a hub about Philippine men? Do they make good husbands? Are they beautiful? Do help their saintly wives in the home or leave the domestic responsibilities to them? The Philippines is a country whose progress is held back to some degree by this kind of primitive thinking. Religion and crime go hand in hand when women are told to be like saints and men allowed to be irresponsible.
I heard some comments here (this is not my own ) that the reasons why foreigners prefer to marry Philippine women is because filipina are less extravagant and are thoughtful, afraid of divorce(lol); and aside from being caring and loving....Philippine is the best place where they decide to settle to live permanently in the Phils. Everything is cheap...dollars has great value and they are secured to live Phils with the dollars that they would earn from their country. Most of the percentage to marry filipina are those who are retirees.. :D

foreigners like to marry filipinas because they can be a 100 years old and still bag them an 18 year old filipina because it's almost guaranteed that if you're white, you can get almost any filipina you want, most filipinas prefer foreigners over their own kind. also, they have the mentality to serve and take care of their partners, they don't question much and they almost don't use their decision making capabillities so all they really know is how to serve=)

The ladies are beautiful indeed, but is this asite which introduced ladies to prospective husbands? I understand if you are from the Philipines, then you have to sell the beautiful images and qualities of your nation including the ladies. But I understand you are a man, in which case I congratulate you as you must have found a beautiful wife from there. I for one think these ladies are truly beautiful to look at, but I prefer the hub which highlighted the inner qualities of the ladies. This is what makes successful marriages, not external images, internal qualities lasts longer, external (looks) fades. I would love to meet a Philipino lady, for association to discover those inner beauties I know is inside all human beings.
I lived in the Philippines for one month, one thing I admired that the women there are friendly that made them more attractive.

just to correct any impression this hub may give that filipinas are meek..will not dominate a household or (weak/ subservient to men)...this is not true at all in most families...Filipinos for real have matriarchal families and depend on the strength of the woman to keep the family together and manage the finances. Loyal to their families but not slaves to their husbands.
But it's part of the culture (no divorce, hard to get an annulment unless you are rich, negative peer pressure against separation)to "work" on the marriage and stay together. Families or in-laws will actually help the couple stay together.
By the way, the image above of KC concepcion is NOT A TYPICAL Filipina. Several people are mestizos (mix with spanish, chinese, or European descent) but the MORENA,or dusky colored filipina with malay features still dominate.

I agree with much of this.. every person (male and female) I have met that were Filipina have been very beautiful people. They also tend to be very social people. Although I agree that Filapina females are amicable.. I have known a male that was extremely arogant. I am sure there are exceptions to ever cultures personalities, but I hope that he was the exception.

@ Susan Ng- hmm, What drives me to write this article is the inspiration I see in my future wife... And it is a fact that many Filipinas are getting married to Foreigners annually, most of that marriages are successful while of course some we're not that fortunate.
I have relatives in United States that are married to foreigners and they are enjoying their marrriage.
Well I cannot suppress the way Filipinas behave in marriage and I will be very proud to say this to the world, for they are indeed very good wife material and that makes our women the Filipinas pleasing... But this is generalization though there are some Filipinas that are not good looking and just like in other countries there are (sorry for the word) ugly- duckling... and to set the real score beautiful or not Filipinas have the remarkable good inner beauty as I stated above. Beauty fades, while personality, character and attitudes are'nt and most Filipinas have these attributes...
This article is not meant to oveshadow hehehe, i hope you read my article very well...

Filipino blood is a mixture of Latin, European and Malay, and a sprinkle of Japanese, Chinese and American blood... No wonder there are a lot of fair looking Filipinas... hehehe... KC was a an exceptional young woman in the picture above and she is my crush... and you know what the pictures of the two woman above (the ones that have picture gallery) is just taken from youtube, common beutiful ladies featured in the Song Prinsesa "Princess" hehehe, very beautiful women Filipinas are common here in the Philippines but still inner beauty is important. The testament of this is the strong finish of Filipinas in International Pageants, Philippines already won 2 Miss Universe Titles and have runnerup finishes in other pageants aside from The Miss U.

If I didn't know better, I'd say you just described my fiancee' Leona to a proverbial "T".
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from The School of Economics at U. of P. (Diliman) in Quezon City in March of '08. So not only is she smarter than 99.9% of the people in her own country, she's also drop dead gorgeous. Now, she's the newest operations mgr., for a large multi-national customer service company. I'm just crazy about her, and vice versa. We're getting 'spliced' (married) in December. I'm a very lucky fellow. Indeed. Thank goodness she was on "Wowowee" one month ago... I can watch her clips on YouTube until I can get back to Manila. I miss her badly, and love her madly.
